Win 7 virus cannot access internet

In reply to Palcouk's post on September 4, No - the laptop is from work and any updates come from our IT department. Vijay B. In reply to HannoverFist's post on September 4, Hi Hannover, What is the exact and complete error message you get? This issue might occur if your network administrator blocks the access to the external wireless networks or if the Wireless network card drivers are not updated.

I would suggest you to try all the steps from the following link: Why can't I connect to the Internet? This is most probably a driver issue try updating the drivers directly from the laptop's manufacturer web site. Sometimes windows do provide generic adapter drivers which might create compatibility issue. I suggest you un-install the adapter drivers and manually install them.

In reply to Vijay B's post on September 5, There is no error message that pops up. The internet just stops working. In reply to David. Chase's post on September 5, In reply to HannoverFist's post on September 5, Hi Hi Hannover, Which antivirus program is installed on the computer? Hey guys I'm having a problem setting up an Ad-Hoc network as it seems that microsoft has disabled that feature on windows 8. I already posted my question but I need to find a solution quickly.

For more information on permissions, see What are permissions? You might get this error if the shortcut or installation is attempting to access a location that is not currently available such as a networked or a removable drive. Check the path of the file that Windows cannot access and make sure that the location is accessible. You can also receive this error if the file has been moved or deleted. Browse to the location of the file and make sure the file is in that location.

You can also receive this error if the shortcut or other file type has become corrupt. You can check for corruption in shortcuts by recreating the shortcut. To do this, see Create or delete a shortcut. If an application or other type of file is corrupt it may be necessary to repair the application to resolve the issue. In some cases the file may be blocked by Windows.

Check the properties of the file, there may be a note saying This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer To check for and unblock the file, follow these steps:.

You can check to see if your antivirus software is blocking a file by temporarily disabling it, and then trying to open the file. If you have to temporarily disable your antivirus software, you should re-enable it as soon as you are done.

Important: Disabling your antivirus software or changing the settings may make your PC vulnerable to viral, fraudulent, or malicious attacks. Microsoft does not recommend that you disable your antivirus software or change the settings. Use this workaround at your own risk. To temporarily disable your antivirus software, see Disable antivirus software. Since then I cant connect to internet, the troubleshooter for wireless adapter says the Windows wireless service is not running on this computer WLAN Autoconfig service and fails to start the service.

I notice on windows task manager there are only about 13 Processes running and there are usually about 20, and on Services there are about 40 running and about or more stopped services. Thanks for the help Also on startup now I have a pop up on bottom saying, Failed to connect to a windows service.

Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond. And the startup and logon time is really long now. Last edited by a moderator: Feb 9, Sounds like you deleted the network drivers, I did this once and ill be honest unless someone here knows a trick, or you have a CD with drivers you are going to have to have a hell of a time unless you know the name of the hardware and download the right driver, thats my guess.

Is there some way to check and replace registries if that's what I deleted, or check the network drivers? Check the Device Manager in the Control Panel. If there are any yellow symbols next to any devices, there is a driver problem or a driver is missing.

Device manager shows no yellow symbols next to any device. Use a System Restore Point to recover. I tried to but I have no system restore points or backup Click Start, type services. Under General tab, change the Startup type to Automatic and click Start button. Click Apply and then ok. Error The authentication service is unknown. Click start and type msconfig and hit enter. In the general tab check the normal startup box 3.

Click apply, then ok, then restart your pc. Is there maybe a restore option in your autoruns program? Normal startup already selected. No Autoruns does not have a restore function or ANY kind of safeguarding, I strongly recommend not using Autoruns unless you know what your doing!! When you work with Autoruns never delete anything.

If you want to test something you can simply un-check an entry. Thank you very much Broni, and believe me a I learned my lesson here, I was foolish and trying to speed my computer up.
